This particular cottage was a stone and flint cottage that had been predominantly cement rendered  but had also been repointed with cement. We removed both the render and racked out  all the pointing. We then cleaned up the stonework and repointed the entire cottage with lime mortar thus restoring the cottage to its original look.

On a subsequent visit we removed the gypsum plaster from the lounge and kitchen exposed the original beams that had been hidden and replastered with a traditional lime plaster , which was then limewashed.
